Chemical Cleaning Division
It is essential that certain control measures are taken which are fundamental to the prevention of Legionnaires Disease.
Our specialist cleaning division has proven site expertise, modern equiqment and extensive technical knowledge in this field.

Building Services: cleaning and sterilisation
All systems that are susceptible to infection should be identified i.e. cooling towers, humidifiers, hot and cold water services, showers and sprinklers.
The direct water services programme of testing, maintenence, cleaning and disinfection should be adopted.

Cooling Towers
These should be cleaned twice a year. This is recognised by the D.H.S.S who since 1980 have issued guidelines covering the disinfection of cooling towers and humidifiers, guidance note EH48 (January 1987).

Hot and Cold water systems
These include tanks and calorifiers and require sterilising to eridicate potential health risks. Direct Water Services follow strictly the British standard 6700 - 1987 section 13.9 guideline.
Cleaning should be carried out when there is a build up of slime, scum or other deposits. On completion of the above works certificates are issued to the client.

Bacterial Checks (T.V.C.C.) Total Viable Cell Counts
Direct water services can also monitor general microbiological activity by regular testing. This gives an overall picture of the system's condition and would indicate the need for a system sterilisation.
